Boobs Uncovered - The Harley Medical Group Survey
Revealing that boob jobs are top of the ops in 2009, The Harley Medical Group today releases new research on breasts and attitudes towards size, shape and cosmetic surgery.
The findings suggest less is often more when it comes to breasts with most women saying the best bust size is a B-C cup and 98% of all respondents opting for D Cup or smaller. This is reflected in the demand for breast augmentations with the most popular size requested at The Harley Medical Group a C cup.
Liz Dale, Director, The Harley Medical Group, comments, "We commissioned this survey, to which over 2,000 women responded, to help clinic staff better understand what women want when it comes to breasts and breast surgery. Breast augmentation is our top surgical procedure and we pride ourselves on being absolute specialists not just on the clinical side but also in responding to our patients needs and understanding their motivations."
80% of respondents think Page 3 is acceptable in a newspaper, while the liberal attitude carries over to cosmetic surgery with only 12% of mothers questioned saying they'd be unhappy if their daughter had a breast augmentation.
Lisa Littlehales, specialist nurse counsellor at The Harley Medical Group, "Many of our breast augmentation patients are mums who've opted for surgery to help re-shape and uplift their breasts following childbirth and breast feeding, after they've completed their family. We weren't surprised to see in the research findings that 81% of women would like to bin their bras as our patients often tell us they want to achieve the pertness and natural shape they had before, for example, pregnancy or weight-loss."
Curvy presenter, Kelly Brook, has been named as the celebrity with the most covetable natural breasts, whilst Dannii Minogue is perceived to have the best augmented breasts, with 85% of respondents believing they could successfully identify a breast augmentation. A majority of people who answered the question - 20% - shared the opinion that between 30-40% of women in the UK have had a breast augmentation, despite the actual figure being around 10%.
We found one percent of respondents who'd had a breast augmentation themselves admitted their decision had been influenced by a partner. While this number is thankfully low, we would always advise patients to opt for surgery only when it is something to which they are one hundred percent committed and comfortable with.
